Two days ago our team reached a huge milestone in the construction of a 30' x 45' pond in Dexter, MI. At this location we have had lots of naturally occurring ground water flowing into our excavation. We added a liner to this pond build to help retain water but to also stop the erosion of the slopes. The soil found on site was a sandy clay that would slump when saturated. Once we controlled the influx of water from the surrounding area we were able to install the liner and rock the pond.
The very important portion of this pond build was to fill the pond with tapped spring on the property via drain pipe. We converted the 6" green pipe down to a 3" pipe and connected it to the liner with a 3" bulkhead fitting to minimize and almost erase any tacky looking pipes. In the video you can see me remove the plug coupling from the spring end and laugh as the flow takes longer than I initially expected.
This all may sound pretty boring, but to me it is super cool because I spent countless hours as a kid playing with and studying springs just like this one trying to understand how they work. A very cool accomplishment for me to finally tap into one and use it to fill a pond that I and my team at Poseidon Ponds & Landscaping built.
Stay tuned to see more pictures and videos from this really cool pond build in Dexter, MI.
